About the Role

Teachers will lead 15–20 one-hour classes over the season, focusing on building dancers’ technical and artistic skills through progressive, thoughtfully structured instruction.

Responsibilities

• Teach contemporary technique classes that may include:

  • Floorwork

  • Modern and contemporary-based movement principles

  • Improvisation and creative exploration

  • Partnering techniques

• Provide verbal and hands-on feedback to dancers

• Track and report dancers’ technical development to the Artistic Directors

• Check in community members and take attendance

• Build continuity and progression from class to class
  
  

Schedule & Commitment

• Classes are held weekly at SMASH Dance Academy (188 W River Park Dr, Provo):

  • Mondays & Fridays: 10–11 AM

  • Wednesdays: 7–8 PM

• Teachers must be consistently available for at least one of these class times

• Each teacher’s schedule will be customized to their availability
  
  

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience teaching or working with adult professional dancers

• Deep understanding of contemporary dance, including modern influences, floorwork, and partnering

• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, supportive approach

• Passion for nurturing dancers' technique, artistry, and progress over time
  
  

Compensation & Perks

• Pay ranges from $30–$45/hour, based on experience

• Additional perks include:

  • Free access to WCDC technique classes and workshops

  • Opportunities to teach auditions, workshops, intensives, and outreach programs (typically $45–$75/hour)

  • Eligibility for paid choreography commissions if desired
