jocelyn smith

A native to the Wasatch Front, Jocelyn is a dynamic performer with a wide range of expression. She has been a featured performer throughout the years, including dancing in a duet representing Utah Valley University at the National American College Dance Festival in Washington, DC. Other highlights include performing with the Penguin Lady Dance Collective, Walt Disney World, multiple freelance projects, and Wasatch Contemporary Dance Company for 6 seasons. She has set work for WCDC, Brine Dance Collective, The Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival, and numerous high schools and studios. Her piece Remember When… won Utah Metropolitan Ballet’s Choreography Design Competition in 2017. Her dance film “Feeling Small” received the Arches Award at the Utah Dance Film Festival in 2022. Jocelyn became WCDC’s Associate Director in August 2021. She went on to receive her MFA from Montclair in New Jersey in May of 2024 and directed WCDC’s Spring 2024 show, Savor, as part of her graduate work featuring a unique combination of dance and flavor profiles. Jocelyn transitioned into WCDC’s Artistic Director in August of 2024.
