MOVERS + MAKERS WORKSHOP

makers workshop

The Makers Workshop is a 14-hour immersive experience designed for advanced choreographers, professionals, and emerging artists ready to deepen their creative practice. Through a dynamic blend of composition and improvisation classes, along with exploratory technique sessions, participants will expand their artistic voice in a collaborative, thought-provoking environment. The workshop also includes opportunities for networking and a ticket to attend the Movers + Makers showcase—offering insight into the work of both peers and invited artists. Please note: this is a workshop experience and is not the same as the Makers Fellowship—participants will not be assigned casts or creating new work in evening rehearsals.

Held June 4–6 in Orem, Utah, this is one of the only open-enrollment advanced choreography workshops in the western U.S., making it a rare and accessible opportunity to study with a high-caliber roster of teaching artists. While designed for participants ages 21+ with advanced experience, dancers are encouraged to self-determine their readiness and enroll. With limited spots available, the Maker Workshop offers a focused, intimate cohort experience for those serious about refining their craft and expanding their creative perspective.

Utah County and the surrounding area is home to many incredible teachers and choreographers who have experience in academia, research, professional performance, arts administration, and composition. Classes cover topics such as structuring your choreographic work, using narrative, utilizing technology, videography, and props in choreography, utilizing different group sizes, different movement generator tools, and unique improvisation inspiration to enliven your work.
